Important results from the project
The project’s purpose and objectives have been partially achieved. The city is a large organization and the responsibility for development is in many cases decentralized. The innovation capacity needs to be present throughout city. The competence to use innovation as a tool has increased. Structures for how innovation projects that involve many actors can be initiated exist to a great extent, even if they are not uniform and not always widespread. The city needs to continue to develop the structures for how innovation projects can be scaled up.
Expected long term effects
The project has participated in the development of the city’s quality program, which has resulted in a clearer governance of innovation. The result of the project is that the competence to use innovation has increased. Educational efforts have been carried out, methods and tools have been identified and further developed, which are gathered in a common workspace. An e-education on innovation in Stockholm City has been developed. Networks are also established. Innovation is now seen more as a natural part of the city’s toolbox and is more pervasive in the city’s governance and management
Approach and implementation
The work in the project has had to be adapted to the ongoing work on developing and implementing the city’s quality program. As the city’s leadership gained new insights into the need to lead and manage innovation, the project’s focus changed. Linking it to the quality program has made the work easier. The project has made it possible to focus on improving skills in innovation, which is important for both governance and continued work. The cooperation with KTH and the initiation of a Scientific Council has been developed and has found new forms within the organization.
