Mission Matmiljö

Purpose and goal

This innovation platform focuses on transformation of the physical, social and virtual food environments that we encounter and live in on a daily basis. We will mobilize and engage actors of the food system based on the mission: "By 2033, Sweden´s public food environments will secure the needs of people, society and nature." The goal is that food environments of the future promote a rich food culture, contribute to good public health, are the foundation of a well-functioning economy and promote regenerative, resilient and nature-positive food production, within planetary boundaries.

Expected effects and result

The result of the innovation platform´s initial phase will be a systems mapping of three main food environment categories - retail, HoReCa (hotels, restaurants and cafés) and publicly funded food environments. Leverage points, areas of intervention and mission milestones will be identified and an initial portfolio of prototypes will be created. A big focus during the initial phase of the innovation platform is on mobilization of actors and national as well as international exchange. Knowledge anchoring and continuous learning are also central.

Planned approach and implementation

The innovation platform plans to use the following steps and methods during the initial construction phase; - Mission formulation and iteration of the mission, - Research, - Analysis, - System mapping including GAP analysis, - Identify leverage points - Idea generation and finally - Prototyping,prioritization and evaluation of prototypes that the platform initiates or connects to. During the construction phase, both the demand side, the stakeholders and other system actors will be involved to co-create the platform via various forums, working groups and processes.
