Purpose and goal

VGR has developed a model to facilitate innovation in collaboration between healthcare, business, academia and patients. According to the model, the challenges of healthcare is presented and explained in order to enable the finding of the solutions that provide the greatest possible benefit. Now we are further developing and spreading the model through several pilots. In each pilot, challenges will be matched with solutions generated through collaborative activities. Different ways of communicating with external parties will be evaluated.

Expected effects and result

The developed model creates structure for innovation collaboration within the healthcare system. Healthcare workers are made aware of what innovation is and how to work with innovation in collaboration. The use of the model contributes to strengthening the ability of business and academia to match their existing and future solutions to the real needs of healthcare and hence, creates the basis for increased quality and more efficient resource utilization in Swedish healthcare.

Planned approach and implementation

The collaboration model will be applied and developed by running a number of pilots with selected operations within VGR. First up is the hand surgeon at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Management and organization will be built with representatives from healthcare, trade association, academia, patients and support functions within VGR. Various innovation training activities with healthcare workers as well as collaboration activities with academia, industry and patients will be carried out and evaluated. We will also focus on spreading knowledge about the model.
