Important results from the project

The purpose with the SPACE2 project was to identify and connect relevant Swedish space related players to an ecosystem enabling collaboration and business relationships, and to establish contact with relevant international players to raise awareness and further collaboration and business relationships. We believe the purpose has been reached and that all objectives have been met or exceeded.

Expected long term effects

A small quite well known space ecosystem is now in place around THINGS, including some international relationships and awareness. THINGS will keep space as one of our deeptech domains and will continue developing our ecosystem. As operations partner to Deep Tech Alliance we see increased opportunities to develop the international part of our ecosystem. The objectives are met or exceeded. ”They are already a positive force for the Nordic New Space sector.” -Ted Elvhage, Managing Partner Rymdkapital

Approach and implementation

Adding Space to THINGS domains worked well. We tested different formats and it was quite easy to engage tech companies in Sweden and abroad, but getting active engagement from non-space and established space companies was harder. THINGS’ operations should be suitable to leverage Sweden´s position in “old space” to develop “new space” where we are strong in innovation and entrepreneurship. After discussions with a number of Nordic actors, we see an opportunity to increase collaboration through a joint Nordic effort.
