Funding from Vinnova SEK 35 000
Project duration May 2016 - September 2016
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The purpose of the contest was to encourage new, innovative products and solutions that increase sustainable transports. The goal was to give at least three solutions the opportunity to present their descriptions at the conference Transport Efficiency Day 2016 in order to support them by marketing themselves and their idea through the presentation. An important part of the work has been to provide opportunities for collaboration between academia, industry and government for the ideas that can lead to demonstration projects.

Expected long term effects

The project has worked to capture and disseminate ideas on how transport can be made more efficient through innovations. The possibility to take a broad approach and think ´outside the box´ was enabled to get innovative solutions that contribute to increased transport efficiency. CLOSER also contributed with a profit check and the possibility of a deeper dialogue with the winner in order to realize the idea. The winning proposal gave a valuable input to transport efficiency in the field of railway transportation and will be further developed.

Approach and implementation

A framework for innovation contest was established. This clearly stated the time frame of the contest as well as the format of which the contributions should be submitted. All contributions were welcome, provided that it touched on the topic transport efficiency. The framework was spread in all social media, partnerships, etc. to give everyone the opportunity to apply. A jury assessed the contributions received and chose three that was given the opportunity to present at TREFF. The audience voted for the winner by using mentometer-voting, the winner received a pay check of 25 000 SEK.
