Reference number
Coordinator WSP Sverige AB - WSP Sverige AB, Stockholm Globen
Funding from Vinnova SEK 100 000
Project duration February 2019 - December 2019
Status Completed

Important results from the project

The project aimed to start up an innovation cluster to take the innovation concepts from the "Transformative infrastructure" competition towards implementation. A first cluster meeting around the competition´s innovation concepts multifunctionality and marine designs was planned and implemented. The meeting was successfully conducted in close collaboration with Kristineberg Marine Research and Innovation Centre in Fiskebäckskil 8-9 October 2019, where draft project descriptions were prepared for two innovation projects.

Expected long term effects

An innovation cluster was started according to the wishes of actors in the industry, a more long-term plan was developed and a first cluster meeting was organized. However, the long-term financing and forms of administration of the cluster could not be resolved within the framework of the start-up project, which is why the long-term desired effects - getting the innovation project started and implementing the innovation concepts from the competition - are currently uncertain if they will be achieved

Approach and implementation

As a basis for the innovation cluster, there was a common wish from organizations in the industry, but no formal commitments in terms of funding or participation at to cluster meetings. There are also many other initiatives around innovations, which create confusion about the role of the cluster in relation to other things. The innovation cluster´s relationship with InfraSweden2030 and Sveriges Byggindustrier, who were the initiators, was also unclear. All this contributed to ensuring that the long-term perspective could not be secured within the framework of the start-up project.
