Important results from the project
The goal of the project was to establish a resource-efficient and sustainable concept and working method for how healthcare in Västerbotten can lead innovation and partnership in the daily operations, through so-called "innovation clinics". Post-project, there is an elaborated concept, working method and decision criteria for when and how strategic innovation initiatives can be implemented in health care, together with companies that want to contribute to utilization of innovation and real value - for patients, staff, operations as well as companies and the overall society.
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in a structured method for needs analysis, including context and stakeholder analysis, as well as a conceptualization of relevant response in line with key principles of result based management, monitoring and evalution. This has been applied in innovation partnership initiatives in Västerbotten´s innovation clinics as well as in other settings - together with partner companies. The results and lessons learned has been packaged and disseminated in a way that strengthens potential of utilization of innovation and increasing value creation in health care.
Approach and implementation
Implementation was based on prioritized needs in daily operations, with health care staff as a motor for innovation - supported by R&D/innovation Dept. in conceptualisation and strategic innovation management from start to finish, including internal collaborations and external partnerships. One challenge has been to ensure the right type of internal support and leadership, especially during the pandemic, which is why the organization´s ability to work vertically and horizontally has been crucial for the results. The partner companies´ ability to do the same also plays a key role.
