Important results from the project
The funds VINNOVA granted SVID would be used to give small and medium sized businesses the opportunity to try out design in the development of a physical product or a service that has a market potential. The aim was to give businesses a better opportunity to enhance their competitiveness by providing professional design.
Expected long term effects
The result of the initiative is very positive. The projects have strengthened the competitiveness of businesses and thus contributed to favorable conditions for growth. As an additional effect of the initiative the companies intend to continue using design skills. Some have already hired a designer, others have signed contracts with external consultants.
Approach and implementation
We at SVID are very happy with the cooperation with VINNOVA during this project. We would like to implement more projects of the same kind. Based on our experience, we believe that there are a couple of areas for improvement: 1. We believe that the time need to be extended for the implementation of the development projects to around 12 months. 2. We believe that the effect of design checks could be at least as good in the public sector. Therefore, we believe that future efforts should also be opened for the public sector.
