Status Completed

Important results from the project

INGREPPI has followed implementation initiatives within VOLVO och GKN Aerospace regarding platform based development methods, resulting from earlier research at Chalmers. Two spin off companies, YOLEAN and COPE have participated and been responsible for generation and performance of training, and gained valueable experiences for how to scale up their products in an industrial environment. The purpose has been to demonstrate potential in larger scale for resarch methods, and adapt them industrially.

Expected long term effects

The companies have been able to drive implementation projects, trained nearly 500 employees and managers. The research results of platform based development methods have attracted significant interest. The industrially adopted methodology for functional modules have proven the economic potential already during the project. 4 student projects (thesises), several with international collaboration, have been completed and the shared and collaborative efforts between all partners have been a success factor,

Approach and implementation

All partners gathered initially to express expectations and clarify goals and application cases, and have met repeteadly also along the project for follow up and exchange. Two plattform develoment tracks have been conducted in paralell, one on knowledge management and one on modelling at both companies. Chalmers and COPE/YOLEAN representative have worked integrated with the company teams, which has been a strength. The impotance of knowledgeable leaders, employees and key persons have been decisive for successsfully applying the research results.
