Funding from Vinnova SEK 500 000
Project duration November 2024 - September 2025
Status Ongoing
Venture Future Mobility

Purpose and goal

To combine the project parties´ expertise in road climatology, sensors and US sensor infrastructure to impove an advanced platform for real-time data for US road conditions. Through the collaboration, the parties intend to adapt existing models for the unique topographical and climatic conditions for safer and more efficient transportation. The goal is to establish a sustainable data infrastructure and pave the way for project that supports the development of autonomous and electric vehicles.

Expected effects and result

The expected project result is to meet the challenge of adapting existing road and weather models to the US market, where topography and sensor infrastructure differ from Europe. By improving these models, the project aims to deliver more accurate and scalable models that can contribute to a more sustainable transportation infrastructure through improved road and safety solutions adapted to varying US climates and topography.

Planned approach and implementation

The total project duration is nine months, starting December 1st. The work has been divided into the following 6 WP: 0: Project management 1: Research, Investigation of Road Climatologoical differences 2: Define and evaluate what areas to be used for the project 3: Data Delivery 4: Map creation, model development, and data visualization 5: Evaluation Model quality and the way forward In addition: Attending TRB annual meeting, to meet Synoptic and learn about the latest research.
