Important results from the project
The purpose of the project is to identify and develop implementable measures for productivity improvements regarding procurement and contract design in the construction sector for subcontractors and consultants. The overall goal is to stimulate innovation. The purpose has been achieved in two scientific papers and the next step is for the client organizations to act.
Expected long term effects
The research has identified barriers for innovation regarding consultants and subcontractors. For consultants these barriers consist of legislation and payment schemes, while the issue for subcontracts are one-off projects. In order to provide incentives for improved productivity, the existing contracts needs to be revised by removing these barriers.
Approach and implementation
The research has been carried out in close cooperation with the reference group. The reference group is represented by all stakeholders in the construction sector. In addition to assisting with the analysis, the group has also been responsible for the initial research questions, which is a quality assurance that we are dealing with relevant questions from an industry perspective. Methodically, an economics and contract theoretical perspective is applied. Data is obtained from official statistics, document study and interviews.
