Call IoT for innovative social benefits and a better life for everyone in a connected world

Purpose and goal

Bjuv municipality´s department of facilities wants to improve the municipal´s schools´ indoor climate, but at the same time have lower energy consumption. We will therefore introduce a comprehensive solution containing different types of IoT solutions based on sensors, robots, control systems etc. which focus on the current demand and on automatic measures of heating, ventilation, lighting and cleaning. The primary goal is lower energy consumption and a better perceived indoor climate as a whole.

Expected effects and result

We expect to reach our primary objective, ie. get a lower energy consumption and a better perceived indoor climate through improved ventilation, heating, lighting and cleaning. An additional effect will be a more efficient and digitized work role for, above all, the municipality´s cleaning staff, where robot solutions and demand-driven digital cleaning schedules makes it easier for the cleaning profession´s currently strenuous practice. We also expect a general learning about how IoT solutions can be used for automated and complete solutions and not just for measurement.

Planned approach and implementation

- Heating and ventilation: Sensors and control systems for regulating CO2, temperature and air volume, which are based on expected and prevailing weather. - Cleaning: Digitized demand-driven routines, where sensors measure the cleaning need, the cleaning efficiency is evaluated digitally & the work routines are adapted digitally. Robot solutions will complement the cleaning staff. - Lighting: Sensors, lamps & control systems to regulate the necessary amount of light in classrooms with regard to daylight. The implementation takes place in collaboration with i.a. Pythagoras AB.
