Important results from the project
Aim and goal fulfillment -The aim to strengthen and widen the Nordic/Baltic cooperation with respect to development of e-building permit application systems has been fulfilled beyond the scope of the initial project aim. -The aim to build test and implement a prototype of an e-building permit application system in Iceland has been achieved, but the scope of the project has grown enormously and will therefore be under further development for the next three years at least.
Expected long term effects
Result and expected effects: The project aim has expanded far beyond initial intentions. The result is not only an e-building permit application form, but an electronic portal with a full building project process engine, from permit application through inspections and final approval at the end of construction, where all involved parties (owner, designer, construction manager, master builders and building authorities) communicate through the portal. Also, cooperation of all Nordic building authorities on e-building permits has been established beyond initial project aims.
Approach and implementation
Planning and organisation of the work analysis: The project work was divided into five Work Packages (WP1-WP5), providing a framework for the organization of the work carried out. A time table of main activities was established, including a meeting schedule. The project work started in April 2012 and the project group was already then expanded to include members of the building authorities in Iceland, Estonia, Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark. Consequently, meetings were held in these countries and a permanent cooperation on e-systems for the building authorities established.
