Reference number

Project duration November 2021 - October 2024
Status Completed
Venture The transformation of civil society

Important results from the project

The project had three main goals: 1) Develop the standard for impact measurement, 2) apply the standard and 3) disseminate the standard. The project has worked with all parts and in particular achieved goal 1 and 2, and to some extent also goal 3. The standard is published, and through the project, a guide is also freely available to facilitate application. The standard and guide has been tested on and disseminated to several actors and a format for knowledge transfer has been designed.

Expected long term effects

The project is expected to contribute to establishing an "impact and outcome culture" in welfare, which should be favorable for continued innovative capacity and quality assurance of operations. A standard provides legitimacy while the translation into practice through, for example, the developed guide and workshop methodology increases the probability of real impact on the work and strategies of organizations. The results support other ongoing welfare innovation and development initiatives.

Approach and implementation

The project began with a litterature revies of best practice in terms of impact measurement and reporting guidelines. Based on the compilation, important elements and principles were developed. These were tested against practice via actual cases. The results were submitted to the standardization work and guided the project in designing the guide for practictioners. The project was delayed by the fact that the standard was delayed as well as staff turnover in the project group.
