Important results from the project
The aim of the project was to bring a new technology for computed tomography to clinical realization and we have successfully developed hardware and software which enabled us to examine the first patient in a clinical evaluation.
Expected long term effects
The images show better resolution and contrast with the new photon counting technology compared to the state-of-the-art computed tomography. Our expectation is that the new patented technology will be commercialized and used at hospitals in Sweden and other countries in the future.
Approach and implementation
By working with experienced clinicians, we have been able to identify what is crucial for image quality. We have compared the new technology to the present by comparing images of the same patient and we have also used test objects in the comparison.
