Important results from the project
Five different databases has been developed and evaluated and the aim of creating demand controlled databases has been a success. Several technical challenges has also found its solution. A functional export of data has been developed with success according to the projects aims. The app building process for communication purposes hasn´t been fully developed when the other parts of the project took longer time than expected. A god platform for continues work has though been set for further development of the applications.
Expected long term effects
Since the digitization of the work flow a more efficient one has been reached. With a collection of data directly into a database with mobile devices, pen and paper can now be set aside from the work flow. The project has been able to show that IDA generates a time gain that can release financial resources and put them to better use. In an open data climate, where digital documentation is central, IDA has the potential to be a key actor and provide to a good scientific atmosphere in the cultural environment sector and beyond and also in the communication with the public.
Approach and implementation
The projects organization with a steering committee, a reference group and a support group has worked out well. The steering committee had the roll as developers after which the results and further changes was consulted with the reference group. The contact with the reference group has been carried out by meetings, conference calls and by e-mail correspondence. The meetings has been rewarding and leading the project forward to the next step in a good way. With support from ESRI, the technical issues that arose, could found its solution.
