Important results from the project

The purpose of the pre-study was to explore the need and interest for an international collaboration platform for the exchange of research and experience-based knowledge related to the implementation of innovation management systems in organizations. This has been achieved by identifying key stakeholders and confirming their interest to participate and contribute. The mission and scope of the platform has been verified and the recommendation is to start establishing the platform during 2020.

Expected long term effects

The result of the pre-study is that there is an apparent explicit need for and interest in establishing an international collaboration platform with a focus on innovation management system research and practice. There is a window of opportunity for positioning Swedish key actors as leaders in this area. A final conclusion from the pre-study is that this is a unique opportunity for exchange, collaboration and learning across practice, research and standardization.

Approach and implementation

The key activities of the pre-study have been to (1) identify, meet and interview potential participants and contributors in diverse networks of practitioners, researchers, standards developers, funding agencies, policy-makers and other relevant organizations; (2) conduct two workshops: one with Vinnova and one with stakeholders from the Nordic region; (3) review, develop and verify the vision, mission, scope and purpose of the platform.
