Important results from the project
The project shows potential in the built housing stock and has already contributed to changing the view on housing supply. The project has shown that shared housing can be a solution for many in different life situations, not only relevant for specific groups. It broadens the view on sharing and strengthens its role as part of the municipalities´ housing supply. Concrete examples of solutions in existing buildings as part of the existing apartment stock also provide knowledge for new production.
Expected long term effects
A broadened approach to housing supply, where the capacity of what is built is given greater importance. Expert groups confirm relevance and opportunities for dissemination. Verified need and interest in sharing and redistributing as well as concrete examples in existing buildings show that the solutions are feasible and scalable. A basis for the development of models, processes and regulations where shared living and use of existing spaces is a clearer part of housing supply.
Approach and implementation
Overall, the step-by-step approach – from verifying needs and interest, via architectural studies and pilot work with housing companies, to socio-economic analysis and knowledge dissemination – has worked well and created a clear common thread from knowledge to concrete application. Knowledge dissemination has been an integral part of the project. Through roundtable discussions, seminars and conferences, the project´s ideas and results have been continuously presented and discussed.
