Important results from the project
The purpose of this initiative was to create an innovative environment for industrial growth in Småland. The common goal of Transparent Intelligence and Homes from Sweden is to join forces within the Vinnväxt application Smart Housing Småland. This environment will build a strong platform on two of the province´s core areas - Wood and Glass. Counties, regional associations, companies, and universities in all regions have been involved in the application work. All stakeholders in the region will focus on a common strategy for innovative growth.
Expected long term effects
The application has provided a consensus on the Småland region´s core businesses Wood and Glass. The analysis of the future housing needs has resulted in the formulation of a strategy for the construction of apartment buildings in wood-based modular form. Glass wise, regions have a deeper understanding for the future potential of planar glass as a material for innovative products in the construction, automotive and electronics industry. The combination of the two industries in a joint Vinnväxt environment will result in innovation and growth opportunities in the Småland region.
Approach and implementation
The first phase of the Vinnväxt application ´Homes from Sweden´ was finished in 2012. This was granted planning grant for 2013 if it was coordinated with the parallel approach ´Transparent Intelligens´, and vice versa. The projects were combined in ´Smart Housing Småland´ which collected the regional, political, academic and business-oriented networks within each sector of interest. A steering committee with representatives from the above groups were formed immediately. Three workshops in the spring gathered all stakeholders and formed the basis for the final application.
