Important results from the project
The aim of the project is to develop a new hinge for oblique walls, especially in indoor riding arenas. Doors with conventional hinges become very impractical in oblique walls because the angle of the doorway and its own weight constitute a force that becomes difficult maneuvered primarily for children and disabled.
Expected long term effects
The result of the project will be a tested prototype including required documentation such as drawings and calculations. The product must be so advanced that it is ready for launch on the open market.
Approach and implementation
After some concept studies, an idea was chosen, which we built as a scaled mock up of wood and 3D printed details. The design was CAD-modeled and some torque and strength analyzes were made on the construction. A full-scale part of a riding house wall was built up of wood in which we tested the door mechanism. The principle worked as planned, but we intend to improve the design further by especially reduce the opening forces to reach a status of a commercial product.
