Call Electronic components & systems - research and innovation projects 2021

Important results from the project

The project has fulfilled its purpose and goals, by having developed and validated an electronic switch that should be able to be used in heavy vehicles. When the project is finished, there is a demonstration product capable of handling loads of at least 24V/300A. Depending on the ambient temperature and external cooling, even higher loads can be handled. The technology concept is tested for environmental durability according to the Automotive industry´s requirements, according to applicable requirements in ISO 16750, with approved results.

Expected long term effects

The results from the project show that the developed concept can handle higher current than the project´s target. Largely due to the chosen construction has a much better cooling capacity than expected. Which means that the technology platform has room to reduce i.a. material thicknesses and to use cheaper materials. The demonstration products developed in the project make it possible to show the technology platform to Swedish vehicle manufacturers after this project. With the aim of being able to start product development projects for customer-unique applications.

Approach and implementation

The project has been carried out in collaboration between Calix AB and Eskilstuna Elektronikpartner AB (EEPAB). Where EEPAB has been responsible for electronics and software development and Calix has developed enclosure, the connections, responsible for test and validation and project management. The participants in the project have been the same people throughout the project and additional skills have been borrowed. The project has had a project meeting every week, where the progress is agreed and the next week is planned. Implementation of the project has worked well.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
