Important results from the project

Finding materials that contribute to a reduced climate impact is the project´s overall objective. A material that can contribute to a low climate impact is hemp lime. The specific objective of the project is to verify the properties of hemp lime. The results show that the fire resistance is high and that the critical moisture condition is between, 90-95%. The thermal conductivity is between 0.064 and 0.12 W/m/K. Density, acoustics and indoor environmental impact are linked to the whole construction. There are no known studies that show that hemp lime is negative for the indoor environment

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** With a fire test result of 118 min and that the fire test was interrupted after a flame appeared in one corner of the test wall but that the properties such as temperature, deformation and bearing capacity were intact after the end of the test, there are indications that hemp lime can be used in most types of fire cell boundaries. The material in general has good insulating, moisture leveling and acoustic properties. Based on this, the material will be a highly interesting material with a low climate impact for the construction industry.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The task has consisted of evaluating the function of the material and various building construction solutions according to Swedish standards. Tests have been carried out to verify fire properties and critical moisture condition. Properties such as insulating ability, tightness and impact on the indoor environment have been assessed with the help of literature studies. Likewise, the acoustic properties have been assessed based on previous studies.
