Important results from the project

The Heliple project has applied an integration pattern that minimizes the number of interfaces, and the OSLC standard to create a federated PLM capability. The following research questions have been addressed: * Feasibility: Has been demonstrated at small scale * End-user effectiveness: Full validation * Operability: Requirement for large scale operation of a federated system has been established * Commercial relevance: OSLC interface for requirements traceability between tools have been implemented and validated. The investment was reasonable despite initial difficulties.

Expected long term effects

The project has shown that it is possible to implement cost-effective OSLC interfaces to link product data. That is, this is the basis for realizing federated PLM capabilities. It remains to show large-scale realization and validation of an integrated PLM environment, but the project results are a first step to establish a new market where smaller tool suppliers and tool integrators can be considered for providing PLM capabilities to larger organisations.

Approach and implementation

The project was organized in four work packages with participants from three project partners. As the project started during the Covid-19 pandemic, it was difficult to create an integrated team initially. As soon as the restrictions were eased, we had the opportunity to meet and created a really good collaborative climate. As a results of the project, a spin-off from KTH -Make Lynxwork AB was founded.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
