Important results from the project
The project goal was to advance the degree of completion of Medical Minds system CheckMate® for monitoring of patients in home environment. The system have been designed in collaboration with specialist doctors focused towards studying a relevant clinical issue where the possibility for the patient to self provide measurements and perform procedures is instrumental for the study.
Expected long term effects
A cloud-based platform with associated app has been designed for patients to perform relatively complicated procedures themselves (OGTT) but also simple measurements (Activity meters, Blood sugar). The app is experienced intuitively during a first evaluation and will be used in a clinical research study. The study is expected to collect several observations from between 50 to 100 patients during an approximately 6-week study from home.
Approach and implementation
By early involvement of doctors and nurses specialized in a specific clinical area, the requirements on the system could quickly become clear. The technological development thus becomes efficient and targeted at an early stage, which made it a less of a challenging task than it could have been. Cooperation with research physicians is almost a prerequisite for being able to enforce an approved ethical review and clinical study plan.
