Important results from the project

The objective was to develop antenna solutions to extend and improve the performance of the existing sensors at 77 GHz and we are also looking at antenna solutions for futuristic radar sensors that will operate around 140 GHz. The 77GHz slot array solution will include various circular polarized (CP) antenna designs. A 77GHz system has been planned for a passive radiometer sensor that works to detect the road surface and the low friction point in front of the vehicle. Finally, newly developed radar sensors will be demonstrated and tested in the real vehicle environment.

Expected long term effects

Design, manufacture and characterization of circular polarized antennas based on gapwaveguide technology for 77 GHz Bandet Realisering of a low cost 140 GHz Antenna with polymer-based manufacturing process.000x000000xbrx000ett Radar system for a passive circular polarized radar for roadtaps for road unreretic studies with respect to antenna design quality, RF polarization and background radiation detection.

Approach and implementation

The project was carried out by executing a number of parallel and sequential work packages. Antennas were designed and validated before being integrated into a radar sensor that was evaluated and finally tested on a vehicle in a real environment.

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
