Important results from the project
Hack for Sweden was conducted on 15-16 March 2014, with open and free data from 13 agencies and organizations. The number of participants was about 75.
Expected long term effects
The 21 teams used government data and created various services and prototypes that were presented on Day 2. There were many discussions between participants and government experts about the data and the data´s nature. That it is possible to make valuable services with official data became evident. Also need to alter availability and data in different ways was discussed.
Approach and implementation
The set-up was carried out as planned. The 21 teams included IT developers and data journalists, both students and professionals. We received several cancellations last couple weeks, otherwise we could have been a few more people. The jury awarded the prize in four categories plus a special price. Furthermore the agency MSB awarded the Best crises app. Almost every team used data from several agencies. Hack for Sweden meant that several agencies accelerated the process of making open data available .
