Important results from the project
The scope with GreenNano is to develop innovative services and technologies for stormwater management which takes into account aesthetics, environmental impact, technical functionality and economics, and to develop methods for improved implementation. GreenNano takes a holistic approach to stormwater issue, through the combination of green infrastructure (such as green roofs, biofilters and ponds) and advanced treatment technologies (such as membrane filtration, chemical precipitation and reactive filters) for the most polluted stormwater.
Expected long term effects
Basis for the optimal planning of stormwater (SW) in the cities has been developed to increase the implementation of SW treatment. SW have been sampled, and treatment units have been tested. Furthermore, treatment facilities have been built, and operation and maintenance recommendations have been developed. Integrated treatment solutions have been developed to be sold on the Swedish and international market. These solutions will help to reduce the environmental impact of SW on the receiving waters, reduce risk of flooding and promote an aesthetically attractive urban environment
Approach and implementation
Green Nano was divided into five work packages (WP) on different themes focusing on 1) the optimal planning process, operation and maintenance, 2) Stormwater content, transport and choice of treatment technique, 3) Stormwater systems for an attractive urban environment, volume reduction and treatment, 4) Advanced treatment techniques 5) Development of innovations and internationalization. Within these WP´s subprojects have been defined and carried out in collaboration with the involved project partners. The work has been in the form of workshops, laboratory and field studies.
