Important results from the project

The City of Gothenburg has chosen, based on the City Programme for Innovation, to create a common structure for innovation and development. Initially with a strong focus on innovation in urban development, but over time changing to addressing the city´s challenges in equality and sustainable development. Important parts of the work are the possibilities to collaborate across organisational boundaries and having meeting places to share information and experiences.

Expected long term effects

The structure for innovation is set, the development of the culture remains. Some parts that have been introduced recently are an annual conference; Meeting place digitisation and innovation, which has been carried out for two years and had 500 - 700 registrants. A new website for information sharing and partner search has started; dinkunskapsarena.goteborg.se. A new plan for competence provision is under adoption and takes care of relevant parts from the innovation programme. The City Executive Office will have a new department from Februari 2024; innovation and transformation.

Approach and implementation

The City Executive Office has been responsible for implementing the innovation program and thus project managing the Vinnova project. The project manager has reported to the director of the sector "development of the city´s operations". Special management constellation digitisation and innovation has functioned as a steering group. The project manager has had the development group as support for the work. All organisational parts within the City of Gothenburg administration have the possibility to appoint a representative to the development group. Currently it is 42 people.
