Purpose and goal

The project aims to broaden the understanding of inclusive methods that promote sustainable street spaces and active mobility. We seek to contribute to making active mobility an attractive option in the future. The goal is to stimulate discussions that highlight the perspectives of children and young people in urban planning, thereby strengthening Gatulabba’s work to integrate their viewpoints. The results will guide ongoing communication after the project concludes.

Expected effects and result

The design of children´s future scenarios starts with prototypes developed with master´s students from SLU and LTH. The prototypes are tested with children and culminate in a film that visualizes one scenario. The film premiere is tied to an event for the project’s target groups: politicians, officials, and local residents. The screening is combined with a lecture and panel discussion. The outcome will further develop Gatulabba’s work and strengthen the child perspective in urban development.

Planned approach and implementation

The project explores how automation as a driving force can impact urban planning, street spaces, and active mobility, particularly from the perspectives of children and youth. The process begins with a pre-study that includes future scanning. Based on this exploration, various future hypotheses will be developed to form the basis for a process in which we work with children and students to create personas and scenarios in combination with future prototypes.
