Important results from the project
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** GARFIEID´s aim was to increase throughput in education and training through a gamified API developed by a gamification studio, Insert Coin, together with researchers and teachers at Chalmers SIILAB. The aim was also to build knowledge networks to reach out to various educational players in Sweden. The objectives of the project must be seen as successful. An interesting side effect is that not only the throughput has increased but also the study results on the tested courses. The objectives of this project are considered to be fulfilled.
Expected long term effects
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The API has been implemented in a high school context, a college context and in adult education. The results of the project have shown an increased throughput between 8-15% depending on course and education. The result could increase social incomes However, not only does the API need to be functional in education. With regard to the rapid digital transformation of society, where 15% of the global workforce is estimated to need to be trained for a new job, this technology could help, not only in education but in business training or general further education.
Approach and implementation
** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** Through various workshops, theory and method was developed to develop and implement the gamified API. The method is identified as crucial for the tool to respond to the application´s needs. The preparation plan that was developed for the project´s implementation has been valuable and useful for the process to flow smoothly as possible. The lesson from the project is that more time must be planned to work towards larger international IT systems. Patience is called for when disruptive and innovative technology is implemented in the elderly software.
