Future Materials Design (SuperFraMat)

Reference number
Coordinator Jernkontoret
Funding from Vinnova SEK 7 300 000
Project duration November 2019 - September 2023
Status Completed
Venture The strategic innovation programme for Metallic material

Important results from the project

The idea of the project has been to connect the industrial need for development tools for new materials with the foremost academic competences in materials modelling in Sweden. The project thus connects the entire knowledge chain, from modelling at the forefront of materials research to hands-on application to industrial examples, in order to strengthen the foundation for industrial materials development

Expected long term effects

The project has developed models for homogenous and heterogeneous precipitation, used ab-initio (DFT) for modelling of grain boundaries and Calphad for sequential modelling and the transition between para-equilibrium and ortho-equilibrium. Application has involved five materials of industrial interest for which precipation plays a critical role for properites.

Approach and implementation

The project has been structured round four work packages on modelling and five application cases. Three workshops and two open seminars have been held, and the project has resulted in 10 detailed reports, one summary and educational material

The project description has been provided by the project members themselves and the text has not been looked at by our editors.
