Important results from the project
The VFB project has investigated the conditions for and tested the circular business model function sales, PaaS, based on white goods for housing companies. The tests have been supplemented with an environmental analysis carried out with IVL, Svenska Miljöinstitutet. In-depth reasoning about users, sales, purchases, design, digital support, public governance, future possibilities has been carried out based on interviews, literature studies and student projects. The results have been documented in 8 project reports.
Expected long term effects
The environmental analysis shows that user behavior plays a major role in the environmental and financial outcome. When the energy mix has a lower climate impact, the relative importance of resource consumption during use decreases and the effect of all material use increases. The service should therefore guide behavior through information, feedback and pricing. The ability to deliver and manage operations is crucial for the supplier´s and buyers´ ability to achieve results. Small changes have been shown to lead to large cost and environmental effects.
Approach and implementation
The project has been carried out through a learning collaboration between the project partners based on a combination of practical tests, interviews, literature studies and student projects. It has proven to work well for managing an area that is new to all parties. Other interested parties, such as industry players and the Procurement Authority, have taken part in the project´s methodology and results. After completion, the project will continue to communicate results and lessons learned via presentations as well as project reports and videos on the project website.
