Purpose and goal
The project aims to gather actors around the challenge of resource recovery from sewage systems, especially plant nutrients. Since the recovery of both energy and water resources from sewage is strongly linked to plant nutrient recovery, these issues are also touched upon. The goal is to find a common language and vision for the challenges of increased resource recovery from wastewater. Through GAP-analysis also point out steps to reach the desired future.
Expected effects and result
Expected results at the end of the project is a description of movements needed in the near future in order for the vision of a resource-recovering sewage system to come true. Movements can include test and demo projects, system demonstrators, policy labs, infrastructure and more. Effects in a long term perspective are that wastewater sector through circular management of sewage contributes to several of Water Wise Society´s sub-goals and to a sustainable circular transition.
Planned approach and implementation
The project will use foresight analyses, where the first work package is based on today´s system and situation. What challenges and obstacles exist, and what good examples and experiences exist nationally and internationally? In work package 2, systems analysis is used to develop a common vision, which takes into account the complexity of the issue. In work package 3, we use backcasting and identify steps, actors and solutions that are needed for the common vision to be achieved.
