Important results from the project
The introduction of a new production paradigm in the biopharmaceutical industry requires methods and tools for process development at all stages of the development of new drugs. This project has developed new technology for flexible configuration and evaluation for integrated downstream processes.
Expected long term effects
The main result is new communication methods between important equipment in process development of integrated downstream processes. These methods are evaluated under industrial requirements. An important side result is the development of technology for overall control of multiple equipment for advanced process configurations.
Approach and implementation
The project has been implemented as four work packages, work packages 0 to 3. Packages 0 and 1 were the development of the API interface and its integration into an overall control system. This dominated the first part of the project. Package 2, integration of external analysis equipment, and package 3, overall control of multiple equipment dominated the second part with very successful results.
