Important results from the project
We have developed a model for collaboration in networks. The network offers a number of services that its members can utilize and be the supplier of. Its strength is that all parties in the network can collaborate based on the conditions (such as price and response time) that suit them. The network´s mission is to connect parties who want to work on the same terms for a given service. This enables effective sharing of resources and expertise across organizations and county boundaries. This model is generic and can be applied in more areas than pathological examinations.
Expected long term effects
We have developed a model that has received strong support among the participating organisation/parties. It is our strong belief that this network model will become a part of Swedish health care in the long term, which will lead to that resources and capabilities can be used jointly in an efficient way that in turns leads to faster treatment initiation and increased quality. It also enables Sweden to export care.
Approach and implementation
During the project, a large number of meetings and workshops have been carried out. We have talked to people at all levels, from the individual pathologist to hospital management, health management, researchers, suppliers, etc. This has been crucial to get a good understanding of the purpose, goals and needs. This varies a lot depending on whom you talk to. Based on these discussions, we have developed our reimbursement and collaboration model. We have had an iterative approach where we have taken many small steps. We have not found any similar concepts either in Sweden or abroad.
