Important results from the project
The project has financed research with both practical and theoretical value. The former is illustrated by in-vehicle usage of developed algorithms and the latter by publications that are fully or partly financed by the project: -10 published conference papers -7 published journal papers -1 dissertation -2 conference papers currently being reviewed -1 journal paper currently being reviewed
Expected long term effects
From the application (translated): ´The purpose of the research activities presented here is to develop fusion strategies for use in intelligent safety systems´, ´The project shall conduct research concerning data fusion methods suitable for the types of sensors that vehicles are expected to be equipped with in the future, as well as improving current fusion strategies´. The goal is achieved through publications in well-known journals and conferences and the demonstration of methods in test vehicles.
Approach and implementation
The project enabled the participants to focus on research questions that were discovered but not addressed in previous projects (SEFS) or on-going projects (NHCT). That is, the project provided the means necessary to follow up on these ideas and therefore the result exceeds expectations. A lesson learned is that a small project such as this must adapt to parental leave and absence due to illness to a larger extent than a big project. Therefore it has taken longer time but has maintained a high degree of efficiency since participants have not been exchanged during such periods.
