Important results from the project
The project developed a multiaxial fatigue model, which is suitable for fatigue analysis of non-proportionally loaded integrated aluminum structures. The model was verified by testing and implemented for industrial use.
Expected long term effects
The fatigue analysis of integrated aluminum structures can be performed more accurately and with higher numerical efficiency with the developed model than with the traditionally used methods. The project results benefit the industry through efficiency and improved accuracy in fatigue sizing and service life assessment, while the theory development benefits future university research.
Approach and implementation
The project was performed during three years as a cooperation between the aircraft industry (SAAB) and the university (LiU).
