Important results from the project

Visage Technologies AB has developed technology to detect and track human faces in still images and video and sells it in form of a Software Development Kit (SDK) with commercial name visageSDK. The purpose of the project was to develop the next generation technology for analysis and tracking of faces by a new type of methods called ´regression forests´. The goal was to, at the end of the project, have integrated the new methods in visageSDK and thereby improved the software´s quality, prestanda and portability.

Expected long term effects

The tangible result of the project is a new and improved version of the software visageSDK utilizing the newly developed methods. The expected effect is improved competitiveness and thus increased sales. So far, the outcome is very positive. The company has already licensed the new technology to two important customers and additional negotiations are ongoing.

Approach and implementation

The project has been executed in cooperation with the universities of Zagreb and Linköping. University scientists have been given access to the company´s software framework, and the company´s developers have integrated most of the algorithms invented by the scientists in the product. In that way, we have been able to transfer scientific results to a commercial product in an extremely short time. Further integration and adjustments will be done during spring 2014.
