Important results from the project

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The purpose of the project was to investigate the fire resistant material´s properties, both mechanical and process related. The project has given us good knowledge in these areas, but also new knowledge that is of interest in the future. Some tool limitations meant that we did not produce any test specimens for tensile / bending tests, but a good understanding of the difference in mechanical properties regarding density and moisture content could still be obtained.

Expected long term effects

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The results of the project exceeded the expectations that existed initially, especially when it comes to the samples made in a three-dimensional tool. The combination with other materials was also very interesting. Based on the knowledge obtained in this project, the parties have gained a good idea of how the material can be used. It gives an idea of what type of details could be manufactured and in what way. The project partners are now looking for one or more markets and intended demonstrators to work on.

Approach and implementation

** Denna text är maskinöversatt ** The project was carried out in three main steps: Initial tests: The material was first tested in a flat hot aluminum tool to get to know the properties of the material. 3D tool: Existing tool for testing the formability of the material. Here, different tool temps, pressures, vacuum and cycle times were tested to achieve a fast process while maintaining quality. 2D tools: Testing different types of tool surfaces to find a surface that worked well. Two steel coatings were tested, an aluminum coating, a lacquered aluminum surface, and 3 polymeric materials.
