Important results from the project
Within this part of the CAMILIS project the goal was to develop visualization techniques for surgical augmented reality. Therefore, we have implemented multimodal visualization techniques, which communicate pre- and intra-operative scans during laparoscopic liver surgery.
Expected long term effects
Besides the fact that the developed visualization techniques have a better indication of front-back relationships, which are crucial for a precise surgery, they are also extendable to other modalities. Furthermore, they support the interpretation of potential registration errors.
Approach and implementation
The realized concepts have been realized within C++, whereby OpenGL has been used to generate the employed imagery. The given implementation results in interactive frame rates, which are essential for a live surgery setup.
