Project duration | October 2013 - June 2017 |
Status | Completed |
Important results from the project
Project Goals achieved: 1. Development of an electricity-independent, vertical flow POC device for measuring wide ranges of canine CRP in the field. 2. Development of canine CRP Immunoassay technology for use in same POC. 3. Development of a colorimetric method to support quantitative colorimetric measurement of canine CRP. 4. Documented clinical evidence to support a canine CRP POC as a useful veterinary diagnostic tool in the field. 5. Development of marketing strategies and plans to successfully launch canine CRP In the European and critical North American markets.
Expected long term effects
The project has resulted in a working prototype and has been most satisfactory. Through close cooperation, the project partners successfully developed an immunoassay POC device for quick, time independent colorimetric detection of C-reactive protein in whole blood from canines. This acute phase protein can be used to differentiate between bacterial and viral infection in dogs and is already an important tool for veterinarians.
Approach and implementation
The project has resulted in a working prototype and has been most satisfactory. The project partners successfully developed an immunoassay POC device for quick, time independent colorimetric detection of C-reactive protein in whole blood from canines. This acute phase protein can be used to differentiate between bacterial and viral infection in dogs and is already an important tool. Resources have been used effectively and encompassed all the skills that each partner has added to the team. Many of the tasks required new skills that the partners have successfully acquired.
