Important results from the project
The purpose of the project is to develop technology and methods for large-scale measurement and wireless reporting of data from the physical world, so that the data can be analyzed and visualized. The goal is to provide a toolbox that can be applied to a wide range of problems, thereby create value both in the short and the long term. Thanks to the project and the results that have been developed herein, a number of new services and business opportunities has arisen that has led to new customer projects both within Sweden, in Europe, and internationally, primarily the USA.
Expected long term effects
The project has already resulted in new businesses as well as new upcoming business opportunities as a direct consequence of the results presented by the project. Furthermore, we see a clear trend that the purpose of the project, to be able to do large-scale wireless measurement of physical data, has an international potential, already before the project has been concluded.
Approach and implementation
Day-to-day activities in the project has primarily consisted of development and adaptation of technology to new direct and potential areas of use. Focus has been on measurement and improvement of power consumption of the wireless communication, as this is a vital part of the system: reducing the power consumption enables use of batteries and solar cells to power the sensors, which is a prerequisite for several of the use cases. The results we have published in this area has seen significant international interest which has opened new areas of collaboration and business opportunities.
