Important results from the project
The goals of SCALARE (SCALing softwARE) was to support industry in scaling its software capabilities when migrating from software being a secondary concern to being the most important aspect of delivering innovative competitive products and services. In the project a framework, (Scaling Management Framework, SMF) was developed supporting scaling in different dimensions (up, down, out) in three main areas: i. Products, systems, and services ii. Organisation and business domain iii. Processes and methods SMF is available through, among others, a book, web and consulting services.
Expected long term effects
The project has delivered short, medium, and long-term results, including the Scalability Management Framework supporting European industry in scaling software when software becomes the primary base of business rather than a secondary concern in hardware or mechanical development. Results also include a textbook, training material, consultancy services, tool sets, and an online portal facilitating building a community of industry partners (both members and non-members of the consortium) to share experiences and advice.
Approach and implementation
