Important results from the project
The Project Blue 22 has been successful and the product is in high volume production and delivered to customer. The objective to reduce waste by electronical controls of the diameter settings has been fulfilled and Picanol is using this fact as an argument when marketing their loom with Iro´s yarn feeder Blue 22.
Expected long term effects
At ITMA 2015 in Milan, Picanol showed their new loom Summum in the center of their large exhibition area, and Blue 22 was demonstrated along with it. The wireless energy transfer, WET, has also been successful, which is a completely new way of transmitting energy from a still to a rotating body without cables. It is our intention to continue refining this invention and find other applications where it can be applied.
Approach and implementation
The customer and development partner Picanol are satified with the results and the product is enhancing the experience of their new loom Summum. Since a modern weaving loom cannot be used without yarn feeders, the co-operation between actors in different levels in R&D Projects are necessary to ensure innovation and development in the textile industry.
