Important results from the project

We have engaged high school students in discussions about the future of mobility through our "Handbok för Framtidsspekulanten" and a school program that includes lectures, homework, and micro-novel writing. Building on EPA culture, we have highlighted positive aspects that contribute to a green transition. The students´ future scenarios, combined with experts´ insights, were compiled into a comic book exploring future mobility from a youth perspective.

Expected long term effects

We have planted a seed in schools. As media reports young people increasingly avoid thinking about the future, schools need engaging methods. Speculative design equips them to shape their own future visions. Micronovels – a tool for foresight. Short yet immersive, they fit today’s fast-paced media while making future scenarios more accessible and thought-provoking.

Approach and implementation

The work began with researching signals and expert interviews to identify key developments. This was followed by a school program featuring an intro-lecture, a Future Speculator’s Start Kit with home assignments, and a final task where students wrote micronovels. In conclusion, students’ and experts’ insights were compiled into an accessible comic book format (also recorded digitally), presented at a vernissage, supplemented with a student survey, and later shared with experts for feedback.
