Important results from the project
Coordinated Swedish LCA expertise with the aim of understanding, participating in and influencing the EC´s initiative Environmental Footprint, PEF. Increased understanding among Swedish actors of PEF and its methodology development, a deeper insight in and understanding of the policy work with legislative proposals. Involved stakeholders in activities, such as case studies, consultations, methodology workshops, webinars. Business has gained insight into method applications and interpretation of results and authorities have collaborated on the policy development.
Expected long term effects
Broadened competence, increased knowledge and better visibility of environmental footprints in Sweden and internationally. Closer dialogue with the European Commission´s Environmental Footprint team and to the methodology development through increased participation in the EUs Technical Advisory Board (TAB) meetings and workshops. A national coordination of LCA expertise in TAB. Broadened engagement and commitment among business, and the public sector in activities on Environmental Footprint regarding both methodolody development and the policy process.
Approach and implementation
The project has responded to increased demand from business and the public sector to better understand and influence EU COM´s work with PEF. The project has coordinated LCA expertise for impact the method and to inform a broad stakeholder group. Case studies have enabled discussions of methodology, interpretations and outcomes and contributed to an increased understanding of PEF and its application. Case studies and stakeholder seminars have led to increased understanding and influence in the methodology and coordination with industry associations has broadened participation
