Important results from the project
Carlfors Bruk produce aluminium pigments since 1898 and want now to get into new markets for waterbased and solventfree systems. To be able to do this we need to make a complete silica incapsulation of the aluminium pigment. The goal is to develope a process in laboratry that can be scaled up to a pilotplant. This has been done and the pilotplant is now producing 2-4 kgs per productioncycle. Building the pilotplant has also accelerated the developements of more brilliant types of aluminium pigments at Carlfors Bruk.
Expected long term effects
The Project has given Carlfors Bruk new knowledge, how to incapsulate the Surface of aluminiumpigment with silica. This will give a chance for Carlfors Bruk to develop new Products and enter into new business areas. Building of the pilotplant has also accelerated the work of developing Carlfors Bruks own milling recipe for the ballmills. This makes it possible to work with new customers and new businessfields.
Approach and implementation
The set up with cooperation with Swerea IVF and Michael Kryszczuk have given a wide base of knowledge about the reactions and processes. This knowledge has been used for construction and building of the pilotplant. Tests and testmethods have been developed and tested both internally and externally.
