Important results from the project
The EMC2 project aims at developing next-generation security-critical systems for different domains, such as Telecom, Automotive, Aerospace, etc. Targeted goals among others, more adaptive systems that at lower cost of the product development of future technology with more advanced and demanding application software. During the project, Alten has helped to develop several important parts of the project´s technology. Technology that will shorten time to market without compromising on emerging requirements for security-critical features.
Expected long term effects
The project has delivered according to planned project goals. The project is one of the largest projects ever within ECSEL and the high level of expectations has been infused. Alten has delivered expected solutions to a system platform consisting of an application layer (SOA), a RTOS for security critical system features, a non-critical features resource platform, a virtualized platform that separates different levels of critical systems from each other. A hardware platform with SOC and NOC for heterogeneous nodes as a homogeneous MPPC system.
Approach and implementation
The basic idea of the project method was to work vertically with application areas from different domains and to focus horizontally on common technologies. The broad anchoring that the project sought has been gained through broad participation with many partners. The focus has been on developing a common solution with many considerations. The work has also focused on applied technology through work with "LivingLab", ie concrete application problems for application. Good experience is the strategy with broad and deep solutions, and potential for improvement are early targets.
