Important results from the project

Project has created innovative technical, structural and business solutions that contribute to a large-scale electrification of commercial vehicles, despite capacity shortages in the grid. Smart energy management platform has been developed. Battery system has been built. Guidelines regarding procurement and design of electric vehicle depots have been drawn up. Optimization of charging based on driving patterns has been designed. Business models and contracts for the procurement of services to remedy capacity problems have been developed. Pilot plant has been created.

Expected long term effects

Good cooperation within the project and collaboration with external actors and projects has given a very good understanding of the technical and business conditions and challenges that prevail when electrifying a bus fleet. This has resulted in: Development of a smart energy management platform. Increased knowledge how an electric bus depot can be designed. Test of a battery storage at an electric bus depot. Optimization systems based on driving patterns and vehicle energy needs. Business models and agreements to enable the procurement of energy services and battery systems.

Approach and implementation

The project brought together a strong constellation of actors to enable solutions to realize large-scale electrification. The focus was on collaboration, technology development and validation, divided into four work packages that produced reports, presentations and specifications. Weekly project management meetings, quarterly project meetings and larger workshops drove the project forward and created a good basis for continued collaboration.
