Important results from the project
The Swedish initiative aims at establishing a strong and resourceful international consortium and together develop a winning application of a forthcoming launch of a KIC in Raw Materials. The international consortium consists of global industry, institutes and universities of excellence from Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Poland and Sweden. Competences and resources embrace the whole value-chain of Raw Materials. The initiative is called ´KIC Raw MatTERS - Tackling European Resource Scarcity´(acronym to be confirmed). The process proceeds successfully.
Expected long term effects
Summary results, see attachment. Governance model, see attachment. Thematic WGs initiated in May: -Primary Resources - Exploration/Mining/Mineral Processing/Metallurgy, SE -Secondary Resources - Recycling/Processing/Metallurgy, BE -Tertiary Resources - Material Management/Substitution, DE/FR Sweden coordinates WG Primary Resources. This is strategic for establishing a node in Primary Resources in Sweden, in accordance to the ambition of the Swedish consortium. Three generic WGs will be initiated in September: -Governance, finance -Innovation Model, IP -Education
Approach and implementation
In order to build commitment, the hosting of Swedish and international meetings is alternated between the partners, thus reducing costs of venues. A telephone-bridge is offered for Swedish and international meetings. A Document Management System has been developed in order to offer transparency and easy access, flexible in creating and modifying information, yet providing a highly safe and secure environment. A presentation, including manuscript, introduces the KIC concept, a potential KIC in Raw Material and the KIC Raw MatTERS initiative in a Swedish and a Brittish version.
